Hello, fellow creators of Paper Iconic! Are you ready for another exciting project today?

The Volkswagen Golf has been part of Volkswagen's lineup for nearly fifty years. Across eight generations, it has become one of the brand's most recognizable models. The Mk4 version arrived in the late 1990s and is still easy to recognize today. Compared to earlier generations, its design featured rounded headlights, smoother body lines, and a more contemporary look that helped define the era.

Today, Paper Iconic is featuring a Volkswagen Golf Mk4 papercraft model created by Igor Fedorov.

One interesting detail about the Golf is its name. For many people, the word "Golf" immediately brings the sport to mind. However, Volkswagen's famous hatchback was not named after the game at all. The name is generally believed to be derived from the Gulf Stream ocean current, continuing Volkswagen's long-standing tradition of naming vehicles after winds and currents. It is a small detail, but one that surprises many automotive enthusiasts when they first discover it.

Just like the real car, this papercraft project focuses on practicality rather than excess complexity. Built at a 1:24 scale, the model faithfully recreates the exterior appearance of the Golf Mk4 while keeping construction straightforward and beginner-friendly. Interior details are intentionally omitted, allowing builders to focus on the recognizable shape that made the car so popular.

Another highlight is the variety of available versions. The template comes in eleven different body colors, allowing builders to choose their favorite look or create several Golfs in different finishes for display. Each vehicle requires only three sheets of paper, making it a quick and accessible build that can easily fit into an afternoon crafting session.
