Hello, fellow creators of Paper Iconic! Are you ready for another exciting project today?

Artists have always fought with the tools they know best. For some, it is paint; for others, music or words. For Sal, an Indonesian artist deeply concerned with the state of his country and the wider world, it is paper. He transforms simple sheets into bold characters, not just for play but as a way to challenge authority, injustice, and the abuse of power. Where many stay silent, Sal lets his paper toys speak.

His two latest creations, Ruckuz Lapin and PurrRious, carry that spirit of resistance.

Ruckuz Lapin was once a peaceful rabbit of the forest. But when hunters and illegal loggers destroyed his home, he rose up instead of hiding. Masked and armed with a blazing carrot, he became a tiny yet fiery figure of defiance. Meanwhile, in the narrow alleys of Bandung, the PurrRious gang takes its stand. Four cats, Oyen, Miko, Ciki, and Bulu, roam the streets with mischief and boldness, mocking abusive authority with their trademark blurred middle paws. They are humorous, sharp, and rebellious, cartoon cats turned symbols of protest.

To bring these stories to life, you will only need 4 sheets of paper in total: 2 sheets for Ruckuz Lapin and 2 sheets for the complete PurrRious gang. Each design is provided in a 2-page PDF template, ready for your scissors and glue.

A Gentle Reminder

This post does not encourage violence of any kind. True peace can only come from understanding and compassion between people. Violence is always the worst path we can take. May every fold of paper you make carry not anger, but hope, and may peace reach every corner of our world.
