Every Christmas season, the Bildrum.se website regularly shares a new handmade paper model. This year's Christmas gift is the paper model of the British Mirror Dinghy. The website owner, Gunnar Sillén, in the spring of 1979, purchased a set of tools and assembled this three-sheet dinghy in the family garage. They even gave it a name, Våga.
The Mirror Dinghy is a small three-sheet dinghy originating from a design competition organized by the British newspapers "Daily Mirror" and "Sunday Mirror" in the 1960s. The goal of the competition was to create a simple, easy-to-build, and affordable dinghy to encourage people to engage in DIY boat assembly. It quickly became popular and emerged as one of the favored types of three-sheet dinghies worldwide. With its straightforward design, ease of operation, and good wind resistance, the Mirror Dinghy became a popular choice for both beginners and experienced sailors. It is widely used in sail training activities and serves as an engaging educational tool for water sports enthusiasts.
