Optimus Prime made his first appearance in 1984 when Hasbro introduced the Transformers toy line. These toys, created in partnership with the Japanese toy company Takara, had a unique twist—each figure could transform from a humanoid robot into a vehicle or other form. Optimus Prime was introduced as the leader of the Autobots, a group of benevolent robotic aliens, in their battle against the malevolent Decepticons.
Optimus Prime's truck mode not only serves as his disguise when interacting with humans, but it's also his preferred mode for long-distance travel. When danger arises, he can quickly transform into his humanoid robot mode to engage in battle.
Optimus Prime, particularly in his truck mode, has left an indelible mark on pop culture. He has appeared in animated TV series, comic books, and a series of blockbuster films. The character's legacy extends beyond the Transformers fan base, making him a symbol of heroism, integrity, and leadership in the wider world of entertainment.
The South Korean designer jeyon0724 has created two paper models of both Optimus Prime and Prime Truck. It's a bit regrettable that they are not a single unit and can't transform back and forth, but Paper Iconic readers can appreciate the project as it is designed in an SD format. While the paper model of Optimus stands at a height of 28 cm upon completion, Prime Truck is only 10 cm tall and 17 cm long. When visiting the download page, you can also find a paper model of BMO from Adventure Time in the process of being dissected.
