Molang, a delightful round-shaped white rabbit with rosy pink cheeks, black button eyes, and typical rabbit ears, originated from the creative mind of South Korean university student Yoon Hye Ji on the KakaoTalk platform. Initially conceived as a personal mascot, Molang gained commercial interest from someone involved in a "rabbit character business," leading to its transformation into the central figure of the Molang original Netflix series.
Yoon Hye Ji's scribble turned mascot character was inspired by the Korean expression "mallang~ mallang," conveying a sense of squeezy, soft, and fluffy attributes. The name "Molang" itself is derived from the Korean word "몰라 Molla/mola," translating to "I don't know." This endearing character's journey exemplifies the unexpected and creative routes characters can take from inception to mainstream success.
The Molang papercrafts introduced in this article, shared by "The man making paper models" from South Korea, stand at 10 cm when completed. In this project, Molang is dressed in a witch costume, complete with a hat and cloak, featuring an overall design predominantly in shades of blue. A pink version of the paper craft Molang adorned with daisy flowers on its head will also be provided. You will need 2 to 4 sheets of paper for each version or 6 sheets to create both (why not make all these cute paper models?).
