The Crow Tengu is a mythical creature in Japanese folklore. Tengu, in general, is a type of supernatural being depicted with the appearance of a black crow, often featuring wings and a human-like head. Crow Tengu is specifically referred to as "Karasu Tengu," where "Karasu" means crow.

These beings frequently appear in Japanese folk culture, portrayed as creatures capable of flight, often with long wings. They are imagined with the ability to shape-shift, but Crow Tengu is commonly depicted with a large hat on its head, capable of holding the wings, and sometimes carrying a large fan. They are thought to possess supernatural powers and may cause mischief or pose challenges to humans.

In Japanese folklore, Tengu are often associated with mountains and deep forests. They are described as renowned entities with martial arts prowess, even capable of instructing skilled martial artists. While they can be mischievous, Crow Tengu, like other Tengu, is also sometimes considered a guardian of nature or a mediator in the spiritual realm.

Tengu, including Crow Tengu, play a prominent role in Japanese art, culture, and storytelling, highlighting an essential aspect of the supernatural world in Japanese traditions.
