Iona is the Mental Model of the former Fleet of Fog submarine I-401, commanded by Gunzou Chihaya. Designed for high-speed naval combat, she possesses advanced anti-torpedo and anti-missile defense turrets, as well as multiple rear torpedo tubes. Her arsenal includes Corrosive Warhead Torpedoes, Anti-Masker Torpedoes, Active Decoys, Passive Decoys, and Anti-Sub missiles.
After defeating the battleship Hyuuga, I-401 was equipped with a salvaged Super-Graviton Cannon. This weapon was later enhanced with the aid of two auxiliary support vessels: SGCS-01 Itsukushima and SGCS-02 Hashidate, making her an even more formidable force in battle.
